Morad El Ouakili, known as DJ/producer Moradzo, was born and raised in Arnhem, the Netherlands, but is of Moroccan origin. His interest in becoming a DJ originates from the wide range of music he listened to at home. When he was only twelve years old, his father started buying him vinyl.
When Moradzo was fifteen years old, he started experimenting and mixing music at home. Over time he had collected a wide range of CD’s and vinyl. When he was seventeen years old, Moradzo decided he wanted a career as a DJ. At first, he would perform at private events for his family and friends and later on in the local discotheque.
In his early twenties, Moradzo started working at Dutch radio station FunX while he was studying for teacher. He has been the ‘stationvoice’ ever since. He still has his own show ‘Moradzo and Friends’ at FunX every Friday from 19:00 until 21:00.
It was in 1997 that his career as a professional DJ took off, when Moradzo started performing at club ‘The Level’ in Arnhem. Ever since then, Moradzo has performed at clubs and festivals all throughout the Netherlands such as Latin Village in 2015 and 2016 and as support act for Far East Movement in Amsterdam. Although he also performs abroad sometimes.
In 2010, Moradzo teamed up with producer Bassanova to produce bootlegs for DJ’s. This resulted in national through Slam FM and FunX. After that, they produced their first original single ‘Music Is Love’ which hit number 16 on the charts. The duo released another track called ‘Like A Star’ in collaboration with the Jamaican singer Calibe. In 2013, the two decided to part ways and Moradzo continued solo.
Moradzo is a multi-talent which he radiates with his diverse music styles and unique productions. As he was already signed to Pink Bookings Rotterdam, there was only one missing ingredient. Moradzo decided to sign to Temazo Music Group in December 2019.
